the backporch garden is off to a roaring start. i started the beans in february, indoors. i'm sure i'm going to run into massive gardening issues as a naive & over ambitious urbanite. (so much pitta, mia.) i see these urban garden blogs filled with lush photos of successful growth in the city & i want to belong! when i talk about my potential beans and forthcoming tomatoes, a yogi i know shakes her head, saying, "the hardest thing is keeping them watered. the
hardest thing is keeping them watered. really, the hardest thing is..." she's a landscaper and has an incredibly strong back.
above are the 3 carrots i planted. carrots?! what was i thinking? to the right is part of the green porch spread. because i use composted dirt from my worm farm, there are mystery little green guys that appear in the pots. the photo on the lower right are mystery green growths. maybe peppers? hm!
the lovely brenna taught a rocking yoga class this AM,
emphasizing the shoulders, neck and hamstrings. we also did many forward folds that activate the 2nd chakra, svadistana. in sivasana, we meditated on bringing orange light to any place where healing is needed, in our bodies or in the universe. i was knocked *out* during sivasana so i heard most of it subconsciously. nice. so nice!
quote of the post:
Albert Einstein:The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
