secret camping

well, labor day weekend proved to be the perfect time to camp this year, despite waiting until the last minute to plan. i found a secret campsite that no one knows about in southern wisconsin - the internet says so & so do the locals! i love discovering charming local spots like the mystery x campsite the mighty G & i found.

it was a lovely full moon - the lunar energy was palpable. G built a super fire that lasted for decades. it took lots of all kinds of liquids to put that sucker out the next day.

we biked along the sugar river trail where we stumbled upon the "crossover cafe", a lovely homemade cafe run by frank. he also runs a wonderful guest house called little sugar river farm. the cafe was wonderful - home made smoothies with home grown berries and honey! yes, even the honey was from the farm. wonderful.

i thought i lost my wallet on the trail so we biked an extra 8 miles up & down the trail, only to find the wallet in the bottom of G's bag.

then there was the aggro chicken who chased G out of the asparagus field. it was odd & charming seeing a big strong man loosing a quick battle to a fluffy chicken. i love wisconsin!
