yoga matic

i've been practicing more yoga lately & feel all the better for it. i still need to commit to a regular mediation practice, but that's getting better, too. it's so easy to let a day go by with out connecting to the universe by meditating. then another day goes by. and another. but ahimsa is the first rule of social conduct for a reason. we need to be gentle with ourselves first and foremost. so, i will gently encourage myself to sit on the meditation cushion.

meanwhile, in the asana world, i've been practicing the physical poses just about daily for a month. and i feel great. no more achy back. even the tricky left shoulder feels better because i'm practicing more mindfully. the more i practice, the more sensitive i become to how and what i practice.
if i'm going in for an intense physical practice, like geri bleier's class at yogaview, then i need to make quiet time for my energy levels that day. i do enjoy her teachings - she's so articulate when teaching. every class i take with her, i'm reminded of how to be in the poses. i'm now squeezing my forearms together tighter in down dog & ta-dum, my shoulder feels better!

i don't practice ashtanga, but p jois' saying, "practice and all is coming" is true. try it!
