camuy!

this weekend i return to puerto rico and will speelunk! that's speeeeeeelunk! i'm exploring the 2nd largest limestone cavern in the world in lovely puerto rico. who knew?

my last visit to PR a few weeks ago was wonderful. the people, even the non-tourist industry folks, were super friendly & helpful. we ate at cafe mandolin in old san juan with the locals & were very satisfied. the food in PR is kinda greasy fried & it's challenging to find a healthy, balanced meal (especially if you don't eat fur or feathers like me), but a fried mofonogo filled with beans and rice can sure satisfy the palate occasionally.

i'll visit tibes, swim in the caribbean ocean and - YES - explore the caves at camuy. i have to find the best way to get down on in there. a guided day long tour? hiking alone? either way, i'm excited. sonia, my sister, & i love caves. she loves caves more than mountains & i love mountains more than caves. but we do love both. what would freud say?!
