summer time reality

check out this chillin' puerto rican kitty! i wish we could lay on a car and stick out our tongues. or lie on the ground and expose our bellies. wouldn't that feel nice? to let go of our inhibitions and protections and lie down on the street, on the pavement, in the road?

they repaved the alley behind my apartment last month & it was the best lookin', cleanest alley you'd ever want to lie down in. within weeks there was a nasty old couch, 600 juiced orange halves and a cabbie pissing all over the place in the alley. then the heat wave hit. the pigeons didn't mind the heat, couch or pissing cabbie as long as they had rotting orange rinds to eat. summer time alley action.

a few days ago, i found maggots in an avocado. i put the whole thing into my worm compost to let them duke it out. the back porch veggies are freakin' out! i finally have lovely tomatoes and more basil than i know what to cook with. i'm happy about this. summer time back porch action.

inside my heart, reality ripens like the cherry tomatoes on my porch. reality is gorgeous and sad. reality has so many levels! some things seem so NOW, so REAL, so IMPORTANT. then perspectives change and you settle into a new reality. the ripened tomatoes geet eaten. the ripened heart continues to bloom.
