Dear Mr. President...

Here's a letter I wrote today to Mr. Obama:

Hello, Mr. President. I'm a big fan. During your election campaign, I knocked on doors in Indiana, donated cash and sent hundreds of emails supporting you. Thank you for accepting the responsibility to fix our country. I support you and your ideas. I love that we have the same home base. I admire your wife, with her role model intelligence and grace. Because I'm such a big fan, I want to share my feelings of guilt with you.

In Chicago, I teach yoga and act for a living. I'm blessed to live an eclectic and fulfilling life style. As an actress, I often audition for jobs whose products I don't believe in. It's part of my job as an actress to fill roles with honest emotion to translate my experience to the audience. Through my commercial acting career, I've sold credit services, AOL, and SUV's - none of which I actually use or endorse.

Yesterday, I auditioned for a TV commercial sponsored by Republicans. The commercial is propaganda against your health care reform, which I support. In the audition, I played a shocked office worker learning that my employer is forcing us to use public insurance. My lines were, "We have no choice? But I like my current health insurance!"

I think the Republicans use fear and lowest common denominator tactics to squash your health care policy. And I auditioned for a TV commercial in this campaign. If I'm chosen for this commercial I may take the gig, because I think I need the money. Times are tough for artists! But I don't believe in their message. I already feel guilty by auditioning for it. As an actress, I'm usually able to detach from the product and "act". I'm torn this time. So I'm writing you to confess my guilt.

In reality, I support you. You have the toughest job in the world. Everyone is watching you. Thanks again for accepting the responsibility. Maybe I'll accept my own responsibility and turn down this Republican gig if i get it?!

PS – I’d be honored to instruct yoga to you & your family anytime! I think you’ll love it.
