yikes. YIKES!

so i made a gorgeous pot of korean soup with kimchi, mushrooms, an egg and korean brown rice.

about half way thru chowing on my fave comfort food, a small, dried brown worm floated to the top. i'm pretty sure it's a dried up maggot, the exact same color and size of a brown rice grain. oh crap, now what? i tried fishing the worm out but since it's just a light worm shell, it submerged quickly. i found it again, and it sank again as i tried spooning it out. what do i do? i may eaten 10 worms already & i'm fine. now that i know that there's a worm there, though...i'm kind of freaked out. i'll probably finish the soup because it's such a shame to waste it, but i'll keep my eye out for the worm.

it's funny how quickly opinions and appetites change. perspective is one of the most important things we can change. i was fine before the worm. i saw the worm and lost my appetite. if i can change my perspective to accepting the worm as a part of this meal, then i should be fine again. as it is, the soup returns to the fridge.
