shows shows shows!

whew, what an autumn weekend. i saw a different performance every night. chicago is so great for weekends like this. i've been studying and preoccupying myself with hosting visitors and finishing my 2009 taxes that i haven't gone out in a while, it seems. i certainly made up for lost shows.

friday 10/15 i saw "six stories up: ellis island", where i co-wrote a short play with a 14 year old named emily. this is a great theater company that uses actors of all demograhics, from 8 year olds to actors with disabilities to asian american to...you name it. tellin' tales theater company told some good ones on friday.

on saturday, i saw the great margaret cho, whom i taught yoga to and whom i blogged about already. she must be the hardest working woman in show business. she put on a full tilt show.

sunday, 10/17, i saw a-squared theatre workshop's newest production, "the other shore". i'm very very pound of my co-theater peeps who worked so very hard to put this amazing show together. i was honestly relieved and happily surprised that the show is as good as it is. i heard rumors about the show being a train wreck, even during tech, but sometimes a fire under actor's assess can make them memorize lines. i've been one of those actors before, too. memorize they did and interpret a difficulty script into a moving piece of art they also did. giau, the director, is very creative. congratulations to the cast and crew!

and thank you, chicago, for being a great place to be active.
